Faith, Politics, and Boundaries: Adeboye Reaffirms RCCG’s Neutral Stance Amid Rising Pressure.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has drawn a firm line between faith and politics, insisting the church will not yield to external pressure over the status of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, while reaffirming RCCG’s non-partisan position.

Speaking during the church’s monthly Holy Ghost Service held at Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, Adeboye addressed concerns about alleged political affiliations, making it clear that the church remains open to Nigerians of all political leanings and does not operate as an extension of any party.

The cleric was responding to calls for the removal of the First Lady from her pastoral role within the church. According to him, her ordination as an Assistant Pastor took place more than a decade ago, long before her husband entered the presidential race, and followed due process in line with RCCG’s established guidelines.

Adeboye stressed that decisions within the church are guided by doctrine and internal procedures, not public opinion or political agitation. He maintained that the First Lady remains in good standing and has not breached any of the church’s rules, adding that RCCG would not allow external voices to dictate its internal affairs.

He also used the platform to clarify the church’s broader position on political participation, noting that while politicians are welcome to worship, the altar is not used for political messaging. According to him, RCCG’s responsibility is to provide a space for prayer and spiritual guidance, not political endorsement.

On the nation’s political trajectory, the cleric offered a faith-based perspective, saying the outcome of future leadership, including the 2027 elections, ultimately rests with God. He urged Nigerians to remain peaceful, avoid divisive rhetoric, and focus on their responsibilities while continuing to pray for the country.
