Governors’ forum salutes PMB on Lockdown

– Steve Ovirih.

The Governors forum of Nigeria (GFN) has thrown its weight behind the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari (PMB) to extend the lockdown in Lagos, Ogun and FCT Abuja by another fourteen days. In a statement made available to the press by the office of the Director General of the forum, the Chairman Governors’ forum of Nigeria, Governor kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state while speaking on behalf of the 36 state Governors noted that President Buhari shared thesame concern with them on the need to ensure the three geographical areas mentioned are rid of the chances of a further spread of the deadly virus.
Governor Fayemi, who has also followed suit in Ekiti State by declaring a two week extension of the state wide lockdown, noted that the obvious success recorded in Nigeria in the last two weeks on how the spread of coronavirus across communities has been curbed should be sustained. He maintained that it is very dangerous to handle covid 19 with kid gloves, noting that though being locked down is a huge sacrifice, no sacrifice is too huge to pay to ensure Nigeria does not experience a full blown spread of the pandemic.
Governor Fayemi who also engaged President Muhammadu Buhari in a teleconference conveyed to the President the unalloyed support of the Governors forum on all efforts of the presidency and the presidential Task Force on Covid 19 to end the coronavirus disease in the country.
