Ikale Heritage Association Holds 2025 Summer Outing in United Kingdom
Dayo Awotula.
London — It was a carnival of culture, music and memories on Saturday, August 9, 2025, as members of the Ikale Heritage Association UK trooped to Burgess Park, London, for their annual summer outing.
The air was alive with the sounds of biripo drums, asiko beats and hearty laughter. From spicy stews to steaming staples, tables groaned under the weight of delicacies that transported taste buds straight to Ondo State. Children played, township names were called with pride, and traditional rulers back home were warmly acknowledged.
President of the Association, Mrs. Kemi Atijosan, in her address, thanked members for their support in making the event a success. She extended an open invitation to Ikale sons and daughters in the UK who are yet to join, urging them to connect with their roots and work for unity and progress.
“We are stronger together,” she said. “Your cooperation and contributions have made this programme a reality.”
Speaking to The Polity, Chief Mrs. Lilian Solanke and Mr. Femi Ayetiran expressed gratitude to God for preserving the association and making this year’s celebration possible. Ayetiran urged members to remain committed and called on non-members to “associate with their source, because there’s no place like home.”
The outing, now a fixture on the association’s calendar, was more than a day of fun. For many, it was a bridge to their heritage — a reminder that, wherever they may live, Ikale lives in them.
