Olabode Omoyele sues for calm as aspirants await primaries’ result.
Ondo South Politician and All Progressives Congress stakeholder, Mr. Olabode Omoyele has added his voice to the appeal for peace and calm that has been the diplomatic reaction of peace lovers and progressive minded members of the public as a fall out of the 2027 General election Primaries in Ondo State which started last week Saturday.
In the face of the different results flying around in the political space with each winner arrogating shadow poll victory to themselves on the social media space, Mr. Olabode Omoyele in an official statement he personally endorsed reiterated his charge last week that APC members should go to the Primary with the genuine intent of averting post primary litigations.
He decried a situation where actions and inactions of members will turn Democracy upside down , stressing that if the general objective is to represent the masses, activities and statements that are not beholding to democratic ethos should not be encouraged.
He stated that virtually all the aspirants particularly for the Ondo South House of Reps tickets can boast of polished democratic credentials and this presupposes that there is the time tested understanding that it is only one winner that can emerge par each federal Constituency seat, adding that if contenders go ahead to pronounce themselves respectively as evolving winners, it questions the basis of democracy.
Olabode said with the logjam that keenly contested representative slots have created, the first thing all Ondo South Politicians should bear in mind is that governance is impossible in an environment where peace is stifled. And as the matter has turned now, there can only be one final arbiter which is The National Secretariat of the ruling party. Olabode also added that this is without bias to the role of the Committee posted to the state to conduct the election as they are the umpire whose submission shall also factor in the evaluation of the APC Primaries.
He charged the contenders to first and foremost see one another as brothers and partners in the progressive idea of marching forward democratically and this understanding alone is enough to calm frayed nerves among them.
Olabode saluted the resilience of the State Governor , Lucky Aiyedatiwa whom he described as a thorough party man and who has maintained a dignified position as State Leader of APC regardless of provocations and remarks from different quarters. He noted that thorough bred party men will align with the structure of the party which super structure is the hierarchy at the National Headquarters of the ruling party.
Ahead of the release of the final results of all the shadow polls by the National Secretariat of the ruling APC, Olabode said all the aspirants have put up very commendable showing, advising them to put their followers in check for the sake of peace and progress of The Sunshine State.
