Yoruba agitators made real their resolve of staging a protest in Osogbo, the Osun State capital last week to demand for Yoruba nation. The protest had mass appeal among the residents of the state capital as there was a huge outing of protesters .

A Yoruba agitator stakeholder , Chief Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho was in attendance with a lot of his supporters as well as members of the regional group, Oodua People’s Congress ( OPC).

Speakers after speakers who addressed the crowd disagreed with the way Federal Government is handling the series of security challenges confronting the South West. The agitators said they would be better off in their own nation as their continued existence in Nigeria is no longer tenable . They said the Nigerian structure is lopsided and skewed to the disadvantage of Southern Nigeria at the expense of the Northern part of the country whose domination has continued to underdevelop other parts of the country.

Sunday Igboho , popular for his courage in ensuring that Ibarapaland is rid of criminal herders and herdsmen, gave the Oyo state Government and Abuja one week ultimatum to release members of Oodua People’s Congress ( OPC) who were arrested and had since been in detention over the manhaunt for a certain Iskilu Wakil, a Fulani herder and terror kingpin whose activities have turned Ibarapa to his criminal fiefdom.

Sunday Igboho said Federal Government has exposed its complicity in the criminal misadventures of the herders as the Government has turned the ‘ hunter’ to the ‘ hunted and haunted’ in the case of the terribly criminally minded Iskilu Wakil, who had gone round kidnapping innocent and peace loving residents of Ibarapa and its axis for ransom.

The agitators protest made markets and shops to be shut in Osogbo last week Saturday as business people who had fallen victims of the EndSars protest of October 2020 did not bother to open for business. The eyebrow and most frequently patronised Osun Mall at Fakunle did not open for normal business. Hoodlums took to this mall on the 17th October, 2020 and vandalised it while commodities reckoned to be very expensive were carted away gleefully by the invaders.

Later on Saturday afternoon after the protest at the Nelson Mandela Freedom park, some of the Yoruba nation agitators led by Chief Sunday Igboho visited the palace of the Ataoja Osogbo for solidarity and courtesy call. Entering the palace by the agitators, altercation ensued between the boys in the entourage of Sunday Igboho and Personnel of The Department of State Security (DSS) at the palace. The agitators alleged that an operative of the DSS was covering them with a smart phone and this resulted in a brawl and gun shots.

It was gathered that the people of the area scampered to safety while the gunshots lasted.
