 The remains of Late Chief Daniel Okunnuga,  the Olumofe of Idepe – Okitipupa have been committed to mother earth. The burial programme for the deceased who in his life time was also the Otun Balogun of the Methodist Cathedral, Okitipupa, started with a Christian wake at his residence, Ewi Street in Okitipupa.

The funeral service held at the Methodist Cathedral Okitipupa on Friday, the 19th of May. In his sermon, the cathedral Presbyter, T. Olarewaju advised Christian faithful to be conscious of life after death, adding that Baba Okunnuga has completed his beat on earth and has gone to be with the Lord and it is now left for us to live our lives in a way that will make us qualify for heaven.

After the committal in Baba Okunnuga’s Ewi recidence, a high octane reception followed at the field of Stella Maris College, Okitipupa. Dignitaries and we’ll wishers from different walks of life graced the occasion.

Baba Okunnuga’s daughter, Mrs. Bunmi Ajileye , while describing her father said he was a complete gentleman, a Christian father, a community leader and a committed church leader. She said she will miss her father because until his death, her father was with her and his warmth radiated her entire family.

Late Chief Daniel Akinwalere Okunnuga was born on 18th May, 1924. After his standard school education, he worked with the then Post and Telecommunications Department in 1944 as a postman. He died on at the ripe age of 92 years.
