POSITION OF THE STAKEHOLDERS IN ONDO STATE; ON THE APPOINTMENT OF HON. KOLADE AKINJO AS NDDC COMMISSIONER
Consequent upon the appointment of Hon. Kolade Akinjo in the newly constituted NDDC Board, we the stakeholders in Oil Producing Communities of Ondo State; the Traditional Rulers, Community Leaders, Bodies of various Associations in Oil Producing Communities, Council of Oil Producing Religious Leaders, Various Heads of Oil Producing Communities and Bodies of Association of Youths in the Oil Region hereby express great satisfaction on the recognition of inalienable right of the good people of Ilaje and Ondo State in the Board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Remarkably, the appointment of Hon. Victor Kolade Akinjo and that of other appointees like Chiedu Ebie, former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) of Delta State, as the Board Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and others were true reflections of inclusive government of national unity that will further strengthen the national integration and unity of our nation and without any doubt avail the major opposition party the opportunity to contribute its quota to the development of Nigeria.
There was a precedent which served as a reference point to this appointment, as it happened in the era of the ruling People Democratic Party (PDP) during the administration of the former President Good luck Jonathan, when Barr. Benson Enikuemehin of opposition Labour Party (LP) was preferred above the nominees from the ruling party and appointed as a board member of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in 2009.
We therefore expressed our profound gratitude to His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) for the magnificent demonstration of quintessential leadership and good gesture; as a true democrat with high commitment towards nation building and more importantly with all embracing approach and political synergy that prioritize national development over partisan politics; with appointments devoid of political sentiment.
We hereby submit our collective unanimous position that Hon. Kolade Akinjo is an acceptable and credible representative worthy of this appointment, as his track record of performance in terms of quality representations and adequate delivery of massive people-oriented projects and programmes as exemplified during his tenure of office at the federal parliament, which actually created monumental achievements and profound satisfaction to the good people of Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency.
We therefore look forward to the presidential confirmation of this nomination/appointment in the interest of harmonized political ideologies and overall development of the oil producing Communities; through this rational nomination/appointment that reflects strong unity and general acceptability.
E Signed
Prince Afotan Emorioye
