Senator Melaye shuns Kogi PDP guber DG offer

– steve ovirih.

Senator representing Kogi central in the Senate , Senator Dina Melaye has rejected the offer extended to him by the state chapter of the party to serve as the Campaign Director General for Mr. Musa Idris, PDP Governorship candidate of the party in the forthcoming poll.

Senator Melaye while shunning the appointment said he did not bear any ill feeling against the party candidate but he is not enamored of serving in the capacity of campaign DG.

It will be recalled that Senator Dina Melaye had expressed a high hope of clinching the party ticket in the primaries conducted to pick PDP Governorship candidate at Lokoja last week; in the heated and keenly contested poll, the Kogi central senator came a distant fourth position and also suffered an injury on his knee that resulted to his being hospitalised briefly after the party primaries.
It is of note equally that the horde of Kogi PDP stakeholders in company with the winner of the party primaries, Musa Idris paid a “mending the cracked wall” visit to Senator Melaye in his Abuja residence after the internal poll, creating the impression that all was well with the party.

Senator Melaye had lost his seat at the Kogi central senatorial Tribunal and still has time to appeal his sack from the Senate.

The Kogi guber poll as it stands is a straight fight between the incumbent Governror Yahya Bello and the younger brother to the former Kogi state Governror, Wada Idris.
