Sustaining the Standard: Why Ondo South Must Preserve Intellectual Excellence in Representation

_By Babatunde KUYE_

There is no denying the fact that Jimoh Ibrahim, a man widely read, exceptionally exposed, and one who has represented us creditably at the National Assembly, brings to the table a rare combination of academic stature, professional depth, and international exposure that has distinguished his service.

Senator Ibrahim holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Obafemi Awolowo University. He also obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Taxation from Harvard University, and in 2022 was awarded a Doctorate in Business (PhD/BusD) by the University of Cambridge, one of the world’s most prestigious institutions. His educational journey and intellectual discipline have consistently informed his legislative engagements, policy contributions, and global outlook.

That level of exposure and scholarship has undoubtedly added depth to Ondo South’s voice at the Senate.

However, if we are truly serious about sustained progress for Ondo South, *we cannot afford diminishing returns or a drop in caliber,* especially at this critical juncture in our developmental trajectory. *Leadership is not merely about occupancy; it is about capacity. It is about preserving standards and raising them even higher.*

In that light, I proudly present *Dayo Faduyile* , a quintessential physician, a Professor of Pathology and Forensic Medicine, and a leader whose academic accomplishments and professional record reflect an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Professor Faduyile earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Lagos. He proceeded to obtain his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, and further strengthened his administrative competence with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Federal University of Technology Akure.

He is a Fellow of the College of Pathologists of East, Central and Southern Africa (COPECSA) and of the Medical College of Pathologists in Nigeria – recognitions that affirm both regional and national respect for his expertise. Beyond academia and clinical practice, he has demonstrated practical leadership, most notably serving as President of the Nigerian Medical Association, where he provided strong advocacy and strategic direction for one of the country’s most influential professional bodies.

Professor Faduyile is not only highly cerebral and well-read, but also tested in leadership, vocal in advocacy, strategic in administration, and deeply committed to public service. His career reflects discipline, intellectual rigor, and institutional responsibility – qualities that align with the standard Ondo South has come to expect in representation.

If our collective goal is to maintain and indeed elevate the quality of leadership and development in this district, then our choice must reflect intellectual depth, professional integrity, and visionary capacity.

Ondo South has set a standard of excellence. The task before us is not to lower it but to sustain and surpass it.

Professor Dayo Faduyile embodies that choice.
