– Steve Ovirih.

Member, House of Representatives, representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency, Hon. Bamidele Salam has slammed Spokespersons to President, Major General. Muhammadu Buhari, describing their approach to representing the media interest of the President of Nigeria as very cheap and acutely below standard. He said with regards to the surging insurgency in the country, the recent economic woes of the nation and galloping inflation in the system, the President’s spokespersons have been combative with the disposition of media warriors rather than being brand ambassadors of the occupier of the most exalted office in the land.

Salam who equally is a media expert noted with regret that the media responses of the President’s media aides are often inelegant , extremely verbose and with a slant of disrespect to the feelings of the civil populace who actually expect a more reassuring and persuasive tendencies from the Presidency.

It will be recalled that in the recent times, the media reactions of Malam Garba Sheu Special Adviser on Media and Femi Adesina Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President respectively have drawn the flack of the public particularly as regards the allegations that tied Dr. Isa Pantami to ‘ Jihadist views’ which he had once held about two decades ago. Garba Sheu had said on a National Television Interview that the certificate scandal which warranted the resignation of former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun was worse than the allegations levied against Dr. Pantami, the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy.

Hon. Bamidele Salam charged the Spokespersons to President Muhammadu Buhari to refrain from being attack dogs when issues crop up in the polity as their several ways of persuasively project Government position on issues as they break without affecting the air of Indifference to the challenges and concern of the generality of Nigerians.
