Jubilations at OSOPADEC as Prince Poroye Deletes Antiquated Organisational Structures, Rolls Out Modern Governance Framework

There were widespread jubilations across the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) following the approval and rollout of far-reaching organisational reforms spearheaded by the Commission’s leadership under Prince Biyi Poroye. The reforms, which mark a decisive break from long-standing bureaucratic practices, are aimed at repositioning the interventionist agency for efficiency, transparency, and improved service delivery to oil-producing communities in the state.

At the heart of the restructuring is the dismantling of antiquated organisational structures that had, over the years, slowed decision-making, encouraged duplication of roles, and weakened institutional effectiveness. In their place, Prince Poroye has introduced a modern governance framework designed to align OSOPADEC with contemporary public-sector best practices and development standards.

Speaking on the reforms, Prince Poroye described the exercise as a necessary step to restore confidence in the Commission and ensure that its mandate is effectively executed. He noted that the new structure prioritises accountability, clear reporting lines, professionalism, and performance-driven management, stressing that OSOPADEC must evolve to meet the growing expectations of its stakeholders.

“The era of outdated systems that impede productivity is over. This restructuring is about building an institution that is responsive, transparent, and capable of delivering real impact to our oil-producing communities,” Prince Poroye said.

The newly introduced governance structure streamlines departments, clarifies roles and responsibilities, and strengthens internal controls. It also places emphasis on planning, monitoring, and evaluation, ensuring that projects and interventions are better coordinated and outcomes more measurable. According to officials, the reforms are expected to reduce administrative bottlenecks and enhance the Commission’s ability to execute development projects efficiently.

Staff members of the Commission have welcomed the development with optimism, describing it as a long-awaited reform that signals a new direction for OSOPADEC. Many expressed confidence that the changes would improve workplace morale, promote meritocracy, and create opportunities for capacity building and professional growth.

Stakeholders from oil-producing communities have also lauded the initiative, expressing hope that the restructuring would translate into faster project execution, better engagement with host communities, and more prudent use of resources allocated to the Commission.

Analysts view the restructuring as a bold and strategic move that could redefine OSOPADEC’s operational culture and strengthen its role as a catalyst for sustainable development in Ondo State’s oil-producing areas. They note that sustained commitment to the reforms and strict adherence to the new governance framework will be key to achieving the desired outcomes.

With the rollout of the modern governance structures now, expectations are high that OSOPADEC, under Prince Poroye’s leadership, is poised for a new era marked by efficiency, institutional credibility, and tangible development impact.
