APGA drums support for Tinubu ahead of 2027. – By Steve Ovirih.

In a unique yet sudden political twist, The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA has thrown its weight behind the candidacy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR in the yet to come 2027 Presidential election in Nigeria. What made the development strange is that the nation still has two years ahead of the Presidential Poll and President Bola Tinubu has not categorically indicated interest to contest the exalted office though political permutations indicate he will not decline the offer of first refusal as it is obvious he is a top runner for the office.
The overwhelming support of APGA was revealed on Thursday in Awka Anambra State by prominent APGA stakeholder and Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Charles Soludo.
It will be recalled that the Lagos born Nigerian President was in Anambra for a one – day working visit where notable infrastructural projects of the Soludo led APGA government were commissioned by President Bola Tinubu.
While declaring the support of his party for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 General election at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Akwa, Governor Charles Soludo noted that the All Progressives Congress, APC and APGA are reckoned as progressive parties and as parties of shared political ideals, they can work together towards gravitating Nigeria in the course of economic prosperity and political integration of people who are not strange bedfellows. “Progressives are now working together,” Charles Soludo enthused, noting that shared ideology geared towards improving the lot of the masses is obviously what both parties stand for.
This development has sparked reactions from Nigerians across political divides as it is becoming evident that political realignment and horse trading seem to have begun when another general election is approximately two years ahead.
Critics who spoke with thepolity.net on the condition of anonymity have stressed that politicians fixated on winning second term are hell bent on triggering needless politicking that will distract the Bola Tinubu administration from focusing on delivering the election promises that formed the focal point of his campaign during the build up to the 2023 election.
