Dayo Faduyile, ex NMA President, expresses condolences over Dr. Adeyeri’s death.

– Steve Ovirih.

The immediate past National President, Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has expressed deep shock and sadness over the demise of the former Chairman of the Ondo State branch of NMA, Dr. Michael Adeyeri.

Dr. Adeyeri , whose sudden death occurred in the course of the week, fell to the sad grip of COVID -19.

In the statement which was made available exclusively to thepolity.net, Prof. Faduyile said the death of Dr. Adeyeri, following on the heels of that of the former Commissioner for Health, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro, who also died as a result of complications arising from COVID-190, calls for concern, noting that these high profile deaths in the NMA is not only a loss to their families but to the medical profession and Nigeria at large.

Prof. Faduyile, while asking God to grant Dr. Adeyeri’s family the fortitude to bear the painful loss of their Scion and one of the leading light of the medical profession in Ondo state, and Nigeria, he charged government to make it a point of duty to provide Nigerian Doctors Personal Protective Equipment (PEP), stressing that the nation cannot afford to fold its hand and look on while our medical professionals suffer mortality because their job place them in the forefront of the fight to curb the community spread of the ravaging coronavirus.

Dr. Faduyile condoles with Dr. Adeyeri’s family and Ondo NMA.

The news of the death of former Chairman, Ondo State chapter of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA). Dr. Michael Adeyeri, is yet another shocking development, which I received with sorrow and empathy for Dr. Adeyeri’s immediate family and our association, NMA.

More unsettling is the fact that Dr. Adeyeri fell to the sad grip of COVID -19, making him another high profile death among our NMA colleagues in Ondo State, following on the heels of the death of the former Commissioner for Health, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro, who also died as a result of complications arising from COVID-19.

To the NMA in Ondo State and Nigeria in general, this is obviously not the best of time as the coronavirus pandemic has made us to be in the front line of the battle to curb its spread among our people. However, the mortality rate among our colleagues is a very sad recurring decimal lately and these deaths are not only a huge loss to their family but to our esteemed profession and to the Nigerian masses who rely on our services for their health and medical well-being.

My heart goes out to the wife and children of Late Dr Michael Adeyeri and I plead God to grant the family the strength and fortitude to bear this very huge loss of a darling husband and father.

It is of note that government should consider it expedient to provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in adequate quantity to the medical Corp as this time requires that our medical professionals are thoroughly protected while they surge on in this trying time to rein in the ravaging coronavirus and curb its community spread.

May God accept the gentle and hardworking soul of our profound colleague, Late Dr Adeyeri.

E signed.

Dr. Adedayo Francis Faduyile.
