Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON has appreciated the management of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, OAUSTECH, Okitipupa for sustaining the lofty vision of the founder of the University and former Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Kokumo Agagu . He gave this charge in his goodwill remarks as the Visitor to the University during the school’s convocation ceremony on Saturday, March 25th, 2023.

Gov. Akeredolu said the Prof Temi Ologunorusa -led management of the university has kept alive and aglow the flame of excellence which the founder of Ivory tower, Late Dr. Olusegun Agagu had envisioned. While noting that the university had suffered some set back, it is worthy of note that it has come back fully on its feet and doing wonderfully well as it has successfully churned out these array of graduates.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof Temi Ologunorisa noted with a deep sense of fulfillment that the university has made history, even as he added that OAUSTECH has finally broken the jinx with the grand convocation of the first sets of graduates of the school in about 15 years.

Ologunorisa noted that he has been able to build on the successes of the previous administrators of OAUSTECH and the university now boasts of five faculties while he met three faculties on ground when he resumed as the VC.

Meanwhile, Yeye Olufunke Agagu , wife of former Governor, Dr Segun Agagu, who addressesd newsmen on the fringe of the convocation said she was impressed with the level of accomplishment both in infrastructuaral growth and academic advanvement in OAUSTECH, noting that the university has recovered tremendously and holds prospects of greater advancement in the field of science and technology.

The major highlight of the convocation ceremony was the presentation of 982 graduands each by their Deans of Faculty for the VC for graduation having been found worthy in learning and character and having completed their course works across Departments making up the Ivory tower. The graduands are from five sets of 2014/2015, 2015/2016, 2016/2017, 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 academic sessions.

According to the Vice Chancellor, Prof Temi Ologunorisa, a total of 26 graduands made first class, 307 made second class (upper division), 488 in second class (lower division) and 161 in third class.”

Speaking on the number of First Class graduates, the don explained that the school is driven by a culture of standard, quality and hard work, and every undergraduate works hard to earn his or her marks. He added that many of their graduates are doing excellently well across the globe.

Prescribed authority and Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Enitiolorunda Obateru Akinruntan, Chancellor of the University was spotted in his academic regalia at the high octane convocation ceremony.

Also at the event were Ondo SSG, Princess Oladunni Odu, Commissioner of Finance, Mr. Akinterinwa, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Femi Agagu , Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Dr.Mrs Ilawole among others.

Monarchs also witnessed the event among whom were The Abodi of Ikaleland, HIM, Oba George Babatunde Faduyile, Jegun of Idepe, HRM ,Oba Michael Obatuga Adetoye, Ahaba of Ajagba, HRM ,Oba Samuel Adesayo and others.

Abodi of Ikaleland , Oba George Faduyile in an exclusive chat with thepolity.net , on the fringe of the convocation congratulated the management of the University for the feat achieved so far and the graduands for putting in all it takes to excell in the Ivory tower. The monarch, a retired School Administrator said Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu deserves much more accolades for providing the necessary fund logistics to shore up development in the University of Science and Technology, noting that the Governor as far as the school is concerned has etched his name in gold , stressing that his promise for more funding for the university has provided elixir that will spur the school to achieve greater academic success.
