All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship aspirant, Prof. Dayo Faduyile has unveiled the agenda that is driving his governorship ambition under the flagship of APC.
Prof Dayo Faduyile in an interactive media chat with journalists in Akure over the weekend said he is eminently qualified to govern Ondo State, not just based on his professional experience as a medical doctor who had led his association both in Lagos and in Nigeria as the immediate past President of NMA, but also based on the fact that he is a party man and a thorough bred progressive.
He said the youth of Ondo state are disenchanted because years after they have graduated, they are still burden to their parents because there is no gainful employment and this has affected their confidence, relegating them to commercial motorcycle riders (okada men) to make ends meet. Faduyile noted that he will embark on massive recruitment of workers as there is an obvious short fall in the workforce of Ondo state.
On the health sector of the state, Prof. Faduyile said he will pay more attention to primary health care , noting that it is only in the development of the state primary health facilities that perinatal mortality can be mitigated, noting that while the state boasts of ‘Mother and Child’ hospitals, these facilities are too far away from the mothers and children in the grassroots meant to be catered for. While lamenting the absence of health equipment such as incubators, he said the primary health care deserves adequate attention because it is at the primary health level that disease prevention, immunization, Child birth mortality and many more are taken care of.
Faduyile said while it was unfortunate for Ondo south not to have had electricity for the upward of eight years, any development in Ondo state that doesn’t factor Ondo south is not a genuine development, adding that the resources that made Ondo state an oil producing state is found in the south , thus the district deserves a fair deal. He said it was high time Ondo state took advantage of the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTHEC) to develop renewable energy. Faduyile maintained that his government will consider the interface with Japan to see how the university can buy into the idea of production of adequate renewable energy and production of electronic appliances.
Faduyile said he is planning big for the agricultural sector of Ondo state as his government will develop agrobusiness and make it alluring for our youth to shift their focus to agriculture. He said he will bring back the farm settlement approach and will revive farmers cooperative society of yore. He added that huge amount of money will be voted into agriculture and mechanization of agriculture practice is a concept he will encourage across the state.
On the politics of the forthcoming APC Primaries, Prof. Faduyile said he is a very loyal party man who will abide by party decision on the mode of Primaries decided by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, but personally, he said he will prefer the Direct Primary mode, stressing that most of the contestants are more comfortable with the Direct Primary approach to selecting the candidate of APC for the October 10th Guber poll.
Asked about his chances of emerging as APC candidate and what steps he has taken so far to make his emergence a reality, Prof. Faduyile said many aspirants are vying for the ticket of the party in Ondo state, knowing this fact, rather than joining a forum of contenders from which only a candidate can emerge, he has gone all out taking his aspirations to the door steps of party men and women in the rank and file of APC in Ondo state. Exuding confidence, Faduyile said he has successfully reached out to great minds and great leaders of the party in Ondo state and beyond, selling his dream of Ondo state to them, convincing them to buy into his lofty dream for Ondo state and along the line taking prominently wise counsel they offer at each port of call in the course of his consultation with party leaders.
Debunking the rumour once orchestrated that his coming out was to work for another candidate, Prof. Faduyile said such rumour is a figment of the imagination of warped minds who are stark political jobbers, stressing that he is vying for the Governorship of Ondo state to actually bring Development to the state .
