No inch of Southwest space will be ceded to herdsmen – Rotimi Akeredol
– Steve Ovirih.
Ondo State Governor , Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has reassured the people of South West Nigeria, particularly Ondo State that their land is safe and no land grabber anywhere in Nigeria will lay claim to People’s private property for ranching purposes.
Governor Akeredolu speaking through his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Dr. Doyin Odebowale in a special release knocked the Presidential Spokes Person, Garba Sheu for acting the script of some cabal at the expense of the Presidency , stressing that his opinion that Federal Government will activate ranching across Nigeria as a way of halting herdsmen incursion phenomenon is his personal opinion and not the position of the President of the Federal Republic.
Dr. Odebowale who spoke for Gov. Akeredolu in the media statement noted that it is impossible to imagine that the ministerial suggestion of the Minister of Agriculture, Alhaji Nanono is now adduced as the position of the Presidency in an attempt to grab respective states of the Federation’s forest reserves.
Akeredolu said Garba Sheu has shown a bad hand as a reactionary in Government by making attempt to kick against the ban on open grazing , a resolve of the elected Governors of Southern Nigeria.
He noted that it is a poorly thought out policy that can not fly because the federating units are autonomous and federal government cannot by a fiat claim people’s land in order to satisfy the crave for growth of the business drive of a certain ethnic group in Nigeria.
While advising Garba Sheu to avail himself of a copy of the Nigerian Constitution and read it at his quiet time when comprehension will not amount to a challenge, he noted that no single individual can constitute himself into a law giver in a matter that concern people’s personal and private property.
Ondo State Governor therefore warned Garba Sheu to steer clear of provocative utterances that can inflame the polity in his bid to do the bidding of his Masters who will rather turn the entire Southwest to a grazing land for their cattle without minding if the cows trample on people’s rights. He said in the 21st century, the archaic attempt at Animal Husbandry which the herders have been used to can no longer continue , stressing that the people of the Southwest are too informed to give in to the bullying threat and tactics of land grabbers.
