Prof. Faduyile celebrates resilience of Nigeria Armed Forces.

Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Federal University of Education, Kontagora(FUEK), Prof. Dayo Faduyile, OON, has congratulated Officers and Men of Nigerian Army on the occasion of the 2025 edition of The Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

January 15th has been set aside since the end of the Nigerian Civil war in 1970 to remember the members of the Armed Forces in Nigeria, particularly to commemorate the end of the civil war when Biafran troops surrendered to the Federal Government, marking a crucial moment in Nigeria’s unity.

Prof. Faduyile chatting with theplity.net as he expressed his candid view on Nigerian unity noted that the foundation of the unity of the country was laid by soldiers who fought tooth and nail to prevent the dissolution of the Nigerian state against the Biafran secessionists, noting that Nigeria is better as one indivisible entity.

Prof.Faduyile said Armed Forces Remembrance Day calls the mind of those who were around during the civil war to the needless blood shedding that led to the loss of life of Nigerians in their millions and loss of veteran soldiers who stoop up to be counted when there was a territorial challenge to the unity of Nigeria. He also noted that the day in history is significant for the younger generation as it takes their mind back to history of how ideological disagreement between two military stakeholders , Gen.Gowon (Rtd) and Eastern State Governor, Col.Odumegwu Ojukwu plunged the country into a three year civil war that took a long healing process for the psyche of Nigerians.

He added that January 15th honours the sacrifices of Nigerian soldiers who fought in the civil war and those who served across the world as members of Nigerian Army during World War 1 and II, maintaining that their memory will remain evergreen.
