Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has begun a series of consultations in Abuja following his re-election, meeting senior political figures including President Bola Tinubu and Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Adeleke met Wike on Thursday, shortly after his visit to the Presidential Villa. A photograph shared by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, showed the two politicians exchanging greetings while holding Adeleke’s certificate of return.

The consultations followed the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, where Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. He polled 511,067 votes against 444,815 secured by the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

Adeleke won in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, securing another term in office. His post-election engagements in Abuja now provide an opportunity to establish working relationships with key figures at the federal level as he prepares for his next term.

Earlier on Thursday, the governor held a closed-door meeting with President Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa. He arrived shortly after 5 p.m., accompanied by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and several Osun government officials, including his campaign director-general and chief of staff.

After the meeting, Adeleke told State House correspondents that he had gone to thank the President for what he described as respect for the democratic process during the election. He commended Tinubu for allowing the electoral process to proceed without interference.

The governor’s Abuja engagements come as attention shifts from the election campaign to governance and the transition into a new term. His meetings with federal officials and political leaders are expected to form part of his broader post-election consultations as he prepares to continue governing Osun State.
