Ekiti Governor suspends newly appointed Commissioner over indiscpline.

– Steve Ovirih.

Ekiti State Governor Abiodun Oyebanji has hammered one of the newly appointed Commissioners in the State, Mr. Olaiya Atibioke over a supposed act of gross indiscipline and absenteeism.

It will be recalled that Atibioke and 18 others were inaugurated about five days ago by the State Chief Executive as Commissioners alongside 14 other Special Advisers, charging them to be committed to their oath of office.

Governor Oyebanji had indicated that the cabinet was simply expanded having made some appointment of few Commissioners earlier.

Giving reason for the suspension of Olaiya Atibioke, Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Home Affairs, in a statement made available to newsmen by The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Yinka Oyebode, Governor Oyebanji said Atibioke had left the venue of a three – day retreat for the new Commissioners without any official notice , adding that his absence was only noticed when the retreat had ended and participants gathered to sign the attendance and performance chatter.

Expressing his displeasure over the embarrassing absenteeism of the Commissioner, Governor Oyebanji announced his suspension with immediate effect, noting that his government will not countenance any act of indiscpline or lackadaisical attitude to extant rules and instructions .
