A Nigerian lawmaker has raised a serious alarm over the nation’s security. He stated that terrorists have taken full control of the vast Kainji National Park in Niger State.
Hon. Ja’afaru Ibrahim, who represents the area, made this shocking declaration. He said these armed groups now operate freely inside the park, using it as a safe base for their activities.
The lawmaker explained that this situation is a major threat to the surrounding communities. He reported that villagers near the park can no longer access their farms or conduct their businesses for fear of being attacked or kidnapped.
This development also poses a severe danger to the country’s wildlife and tourism. Kainji National Park, one of Nigeria’s largest, is now effectively a “no-go area,” managed by criminal elements instead of park rangers.
The lawmaker’s statement highlights a growing fear that these groups are expanding their control beyond rural villages. They are now commandeering large, strategic national resources to strengthen their positions.
There is now an urgent call for security forces to launch a major operation to reclaim the park. The situation underscores how insecurity is crippling parts of the country and taking over essential public spaces.
