In a firm public rebuttal, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has denied shutting out political opponents. Speaking at a road project event, he directly addressed rumors of a political feud, insisting his administration remains open to all.
The Governor specifically challenged claims that he is sidelining supporters of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, including State Assembly members. He labeled these widespread reports as completely false, stressing he has no disagreement with the lawmakers.
Fubara revealed a key detail: a planned peace talk is stalled. He confirmed that after earlier tensions, it was agreed Minister Wike would arrange a reconciliation meeting. “Up till now,” Fubara stated, “it has not been fixed.”
He also clarified his recent visit to President Bola Tinubu in Abuja. The Governor explained the trip was solely for official state business, dismissing suggestions it was part of any political conflict.
Fubara emphasized his own readiness for dialogue, stating he has tried to engage with the Assembly members. He said he has no reason to exclude any major stakeholder from the government’s activities.
The Governor’s public comments put the focus on the awaited reconciliation move, suggesting the next step for peace lies with his political predecessor. The people of Rivers State now watch to see if that meeting will be called.
