The Nigerian Air Force says it has destroyed a bomb-making factory and killed several bandits in targeted airstrikes in Zamfara State. The operation aims to disrupt groups responsible for attacks on communities in the region.
The strikes happened on Saturday in Tsafe Local Government Area. Acting on intelligence, air force jets bombed two locations: Turba Hill and a camp linked to a notorious bandit leader named Kachalla Dogo Sule.
The first strike leveled a key structure at Turba Hill, a known bandit hideout. Officials confirm the building was destroyed and several bandits inside were killed.
The second and more critical strike hit Kachalla Dogo Sule’s camp. Intelligence identified this site as a major hub for building improvised explosive devices (IEDs), bombs often used in roadside attacks. The airstrike triggered large fires that burned down the facilities.
Air Force spokesman Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame stated the operation has severely damaged the bandits’ network. He said it specifically crippled their ability to produce and plant explosive devices, which are a major threat to security forces and civilians.
The military says these operations are part of ongoing efforts to deny bandits safe haven and restore peace in Nigeria’s troubled northwest region.
